Wendy Builds More Than Walls

Wendy Cline, Director of Facilities and Administration

If you've spent any time at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma-Marin, chances are you've witnessed the heart and hustle of Wendy Cline, our incredible Director of Facilities. From hammering out plans for the new Healdsburg Clubhouse to connecting with kids on a personal level, Wendy brings purpose, compassion, and a little bit of magic to everything she touches.

We sat down with Wendy to learn more about her journey, her impact, and what fuels her passion.

From Club Mom to Club Builder

Wendy’s connection to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma-Marin runs deep. Years ago, as a young teen mother working full-time, the Club supported her and her kids when she needed it most.

“The Club helped me to work a full-time job and support my family at the time I needed them most,” Wendy shares. “I’ve always been drawn to the Club because of its incredible mission, but also because I know firsthand how much it matters.”

A board member helped spark her career transition to BGCSM at a time when Wendy was looking for more purpose in her professional life. What started as a job quickly turned into a calling.

“What’s kept me here is the sense of purpose and the amazing people—our staff, volunteers, and most importantly, our kids. Every day brings new challenges, but also moments of joy and opportunity.”

 More Than a Renovation

One of Wendy’s favorite memories came during a remodel of the Brooks Teen Center. As the team worked behind the scenes, curious kids looked on.

“One day, a 7th grader asked if she could see inside. When I opened the door, her eyes filled with tears, and she asked if she could hug me,” Wendy recalls. “She told me that no one had ever cared enough to build a space just for her and her friends. That moment will stay with me forever. It reminded me that we’re not just building rooms—we’re building belonging.”

Innovation with Impact

Wendy has witnessed many changes during her time at here, and one of her proudest moments came this year when the Facilities team partnered with Youth Impact to bring Apple computers into Clubhouses.

“It was a relatively small change but had a huge impact,” she says. “Every time I see a kid typing away on one of those computers, it makes my day. Tech access is so important, and it feels great to be part of creating those opportunities.”

Describing the Club in Three Words

When asked to sum up the Club experience, Wendy doesn’t hesitate: Fun, Opportunity, and Impact.

“Our kids are always laughing, learning, and just being kids,” she says. “Whether it's homework help, STEM projects, field trips, or sports, there’s something here for everyone. The work we do changes lives, and I feel lucky to be part of that every day.”

 Lessons From the Kids

Wendy’s role has taught her a lot, but she says the biggest lessons have come from the kids themselves.

“I’ve learned so much about resilience in my two years here. No matter what challenges our kids face, they show up with energy, curiosity, and a willingness to try. They remind me that no matter the circumstance, there’s always room for fun, friendship, and hope.”

And what’s next for Wendy?

“It’s my mission now to build a state-of-the-art Clubhouse for our Healdsburg families. These kids deserve it.”

Wendy Cline is building spaces and she’s building futures. We’re lucky to have her on our team, and even excited to watch her vision come to life.

Wendy’s just getting started. And you can get involved with the Healdsburg Clubhouse project here.
